We’re calling this group ‘Commercial’ to reflect the drivers from the Government to behave more commercially and the need to link university strategies to deliver the greatest value - going beyond the bounds of procurement to include whole university initiatives and activities. The group is an opportunity to look to the future and to better understand the strategic drivers shaping our commercial activities.
Thursday 7 July, 13:30 - 14:30
This group is for strategic commercial leaders in finance, procurement and contract management including, Finance Directors, Deputy Directors of Finance and Procurement Directors, and those who have responsibility for driving organisational strategies such as directors of estates and sustainability.
Our next session will focus on pre-procurement activities, in particular the challenges of strategic planning and commercial risk management.
In an interactive and discussion-focused format, attendees will consider:
- The importance of developing a forward view (pipeline) of requirements
- The value of developing a procurement portfolio based on value and risk.
- Any issues the group would like to focus on in future sessions.
Follow-up from our last session
Our March session focused on sustainability. You can find ideas for kick-starting a whole systems approach to sustainability from our speaker Dr Louise Ellis, former Director of Sustainability at the University of Leeds and current Trustee and Director at the EAUC, here.
To join this session please email SUMS Associate Linda Crotty at firstname.lastname@example.org who will send you further information and joining instructions.
