Debra Parsons specialises in delivering complex business change, organisational transformation and implementation of continuous process improvement.
Debra’s career in the UK Higher Education sector spans 25+ years with a strong reputation for consistently delivering projects that add value to the organisation.
She brings expertise in translating strategy by applying creative and targeted solutions and achieves results through her inquisitive approach to considering people, processes, and systems.
In her most recent role as Product Owner/ Subject Matter Expert, Debra led on the requirements and implementation of a Human Resources and Finance SAP solution for 7,000 teaching staff as part of an £80M business transformation programme. A key challenge related to the integration and migration of personal data held in multiple legacy systems which required complex analysis and corrective action to protect student-facing systems and safeguard payroll integrity.
Debra also took a lead to transform the HR/Student Services employment processes of 4,000 Open University associate lecturers including process review and process optimisation. She formulated implementation plans to mitigate operational risks, and proactively engaged with stakeholders and users to gain trust and build credibility.
Following the implementation of a new tuition policy, Debra identified an opportunity to create a digital portal to support faculty staff through the transition. The portal provided a single source of information for faculty staff managing tuition delivery to 175,000 students annually. This improved consistency in the application of policies and processes resulting in efficiency savings and quality assurance monitoring.
In her free time, Debra gives back to the local community by volunteering at a local homeless shelter and enjoys travelling.
