This year the SUMS Annual Conference will be delivered as an in-person event on Friday 26 November. The conference will be held in London at the Woburn House Conference Centre (pandemic restrictions permitting).

Creating Campus Communities

Covid-19 has undoubtedly impacted our university communities – both negatively and positively.  The immediate move to online teaching, learning and working created a wealth of challenges that tested our sense of togetherness and unfairly disadvantaged those who need us most.  However, we have also seen examples of collaboration as universities and our wider communities have pulled together to overcome unprecedented challenges.  As we take the first tentative steps back onto campus, and with students increasingly demanding a return to face-to-face delivery, the importance of community and belonging have never been so important for staff and students alike.

This year’s SUMS Consulting Conference will explore the multi-faceted concept of ‘community’, looking at best practice across the sector and internationally.  Specialists from SUMS and across the sector will lead thought-provoking sessions to spark creative discussion, exploring themes such as equality, diversity and inclusivity; innovations in teaching and learning; space management; the tech revolution; and mental health service provision. Join us as we gather together with colleagues and empower our sector to re-establish and nurture our university communities.

Save the Date

Please keep Friday 26 November free in your diaries. Our team is currently hard at work putting together a fantastic programme that we will share with members soon.
