Jayne specialises in all areas of HR, organisation design and organisational development. She has particular expertise in leading major transformation through the creation and delivery of a clear people strategy.

With more than 20 years experience in sectors spanning retail, engineering and higher education, Jayne brings outstanding relationship management skills and a strong commercial focus to her role at SUMS. She supports clients to accelerate their change objectives through a robust, effective and deeply pragmatic approach to people change. She previously worked as a Principal for the UK’s leading executive search firm, Gatenby Sanderson, where she supported universities across all mission groups to recruit and support senior leaders and their teams. Prior to this, she was HR Director at Nottingham Trent University where she spearheaded a number of large scale transformation programmes as a member of the Executive Team, and HR Director at the University of Lincoln where she played an integral role in the evolution of the university.

Jayne’s prior accomplishments cover all areas of HR and People Change. MCIPD accredited, she is adept at managing employee relations cases (up to and inclusive of tribunal), TUPE-transfers without litigation and in full consultation with staff unions, and various approaches to future-focused pay and reward systems. With particular regard to value-added Organisation Design, she has complimented this through people-related activities such as effective change management, engagement, established career pathways, leadership and talent management programmes, workforce planning, and the procurement and implementation of new HR systems. She is experienced in the development and application of target operating models in both the academic and professional services domain, but with a particular awareness of broader strategic priorities and how people can be an enabler, rather than blocker, of effective change.

Jayne has held a number of Non Executive Director roles at institutions including the British Postal Museum and Healthwatch. She was also Treasurer of Universities HR until January 2021 following several years as a Regional Chair and Board member. Jayne is an accredited coach, an NLP Practitioner and qualified to MBTI Stage 1.
