Renée Lobban

Renée specialises in programme, project and portfolio management, particularly large-scale business and technology transformation initiatives.

Renée joins SUMS Consulting following 14 years with the Open University, where she led several strategic programmes, including most recently, an initiative to reform the University’s tuition and assessment model to enable cost savings of £23.4m to be realised. As Deputy Director, Strategic Portfolio, Renée oversaw the management of the University’s portfolio of strategic change and helped established strategies and processes to assure their delivery and for managing portfolio-level risks, dependencies and benefits. Renée previously led the upgrade of the University’s legacy financial management systems to a SAP ERP platform, which included implementing S4 HANA, Ariba and Concur. Prior to this, she led the merger of two large faculties to create the current unified STEM faculty.

Before her time at the Open University, Renée worked for the London Borough of Camden, where she was responsible for developing and implementing strategies to enhance services for children and young people. She also worked for the Greater London Authority, where she led the delivery of coordinated emergency response plans for large-scale emergencies and critical incidents in London, working collaboratively with members of the GLA group, which included Transport for London, Metropolitan Police and the London Fire Brigade.

Renée is an MSP (Managing Successful Programmes), MoP (Management of Portfolios) MoR (Management of Risks) and PRINCE2 Practitioner. She also holds an APM PMQ (Association of Project Management Qualification) and a degree in Business Information Technology.

Renée lives in Milton Keynes with her husband, two teen daughters and Siamese Fighter fish named Finnigan. Her personal interests include travel, baking and spending quality time with her family.
