Steve Barber specialises in public sector tendering, team organisation, deployment of e-procurement systems, process reviews and contracts.
Steve is MCIPS qualified with over twenty-five years experience of in leadership roles in public procurement including Higher Education, NHS and local government.
He has led major procurement projects as part of a multi-functional team in complex areas such as online Distance Learning, provision of a Social Care Information System, outsourcing of Supply Chain and Logistics and Schools Information Management system. He specialises in complex commercial procurements such as Competitive Dialogue and has a strong background in contract negotiation and dispute resolution.
He has created and led a range of procurement teams to deliver savings, reporting metrics and implementation of new systems whilst promoting visibility, stakeholder engagement and embedding the function as a key commercial partner.
Steve has a strong understanding of the challenges facing the HE sector and the importance of developing commercial relationships that assist institutions in achieving their objectives.
Steve lives near Hereford, owns two Cocker Spaniels, and is a Parish Councillor.
