Susan Clarke

Susan is an expert in strategic delivery, project management, change management and continuous process improvement. She brings specialist skills in establishing programme management offices; managing planning processes and risk; IT operational planning and service transition for business change and improvement. She is committed to supporting SUMS members and clients to leverage technology for business benefit.

Susan has gained specialist expertise in programme and project management, IT improvement, operational planning and strategy development while working in the highly regulated Life Science sector for the past 16 years. Prior to this, she worked in Higher Education for several years, defining and implementing digital strategy. Susan also programme-managed a sector leading web site development; while working in Higher Education, Susan gained an understanding of the nuances and complexities in the sector.

Susan joined SUMS as a Consultant in 2023. Her most recent role before this was as Vice President, IT Service Delivery for Ergomed Plc, a global clinical research organisation (CRO). During her time working at the CRO, Susan supported the senior leadership team to implement new project and support processes and practices. She managed the annual resource planning process, established a programme management office and delivered a wide variety of IT service improvement projects.

Through her work in the Life Science sector, Susan developed her project management and analytical skills to deliver service and value for money client deliveries, resulting in improvements to service transition, project agility and customer involvement. Her specific focus on the success factors for projects helps organisations focus on continuous improvement.

Susan has a BSc in Computer Studies from Liverpool John Moores and a Masters in Business Administration from Hull University. She is Prince 2 and MSP qualified, as well as a Fellow of the Association of Project Management and is the author of several papers on Agile project management.

Susan has been a Pension Trustee, Non-Executive Board Member of a sports and social organisation and a long serving Parish Councillor.

She enjoys horse riding and wild swimming in her spare time.
