SUMS is adding to our core team to build on the expertise available to members, particularly as the HE sector and our wider communities are facing unprecedented change. The addition of these two important roles will enhance the support the SUMS Group can provide the sector, as universities navigate the challenges and opportunities presented by the Covid-19 crisis.
Jeannette Strachan, SUMS Principal Consultant
Jeannette joins us as our newest Principal Consultant fresh from her previous role as University Registrar and Secretary at the University of Hull. She brings over 25 years of experience in Higher Education in a variety of roles and across very different universities.
Jeannette’s expertise in strategic-led change has enhanced the performance of complex university services. As a connector, innovator and engager, she has worked across organisational boundaries to engage students, staff and external stakeholders to achieve the goals of her universities. Jeannette has led multi-million-pound investment and change programmes delivering results with impact and a positive return on investment.
Jeannette will bring these skills to the SUMS membership and client base across the change agenda and will lead the Academic Registrars’ Community of Practice Group.

Paul Sayles, SUMS Group Business Intelligence Manager
Paul joins us from Coventry University where he was Strategy and Planning Manager. A data visualisation and insight analyst he has more than 10 years’ experience working in the Higher Education sector. Paul uses business intelligence and visualisation to enable decision-makers to take informed decisions with impact and accuracy. He is adept at undertaking statistical analysis to identify the reasons behind trends and patterns and communicating insights to a wide range of audiences.
Paul will lead SUMS’ business intelligence resources, using his expertise to support both SUPC and SUMS Consulting members and clients and to develop new data products and services.
Our new team members will join us on the 1st of May.
